Wow, this has turned out to be some fly-by-night assignment. Corresponding with a new, unknown individual who has asked me to review a track by L.A. based pop artist, Bijou, as a kind of anonymous internet test- I begin to slake my thirst of hereto before unknownst musical track, "Two Bottles" and apprise myself of his bio. I am impressed with the gigantic portrait of Bijou on his myspace page, which of course is home to all musicians in the age of the internet.

I am prepared to like his song very much. The beginning of the song tells me "dance club, tight paints, lights, grinding" and then when he begins to sing I'm like oh, cool some German? Is that a Turkish German hip hop thing happening? but, no... not really. It carries on to become a very L.A. techno clubby club bump and faux European accented grind jam but, not without some satisfying effects. You have to be the kind of person who likes to bump and grind in the middle of a shady club and can overlook bad, fake French accents. Otherwise, its passable dance music after a bottle of wine or a few cocktails if indie rock is more your thing and you end up at the afterhours gay bar with all your friends at 3am.
My favorite part was being bowled over by this sleek L.A. pop star stud photo and song, which has just come out on new album, A New Day, and then reading this part of his bio:
After completing his first music video, "Beautiful Struggle", Bijou was part of a large DEA bust that resulted in him spending some time in jail. This experience only solidified his determination to put his past behind him and move forward into a professional career as a musician.
This year Bijou left college to complete his debut CD, "Where The Pavement Ends," which brings him back home where he finds himself more comfortable now than ever before.
"I kind of had to leave home to find home. This album is an honest look at my life, where I am now; it reflects my journey, which I know is just beginning."
Right on. A New Day is here! Curious to know more about Bijou? His renewed committment to music and club life thanks to a long vacation sponsored in part by the DEA? Absolutely! Let's hear another song! How can you not be curious about song number 2 with that in mind? You could go anywhere with this, Bijou.
