Neil Diamond Music

Add Comment

Neil Diamond (who is also known jokingly as the The Jewish Elvis) is a successful singer and songwriter of pop music. He has had many hits over the decades with that majority in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. The musician has a very large following and his fans are often considered lifelong. His performances generally cause a lot of excitement and are covered extensively by the media. The songs he has both written and performed have been thought of as timeless and his music is frequently "covered" by other bands. He is well known for wearing colourful sequin and sparkly shirts in concert.

Miami Florida Music

Add Comment

The music scene in Miami, Florida is culturally diverse and full of variation. The sounds of the city have been touched by many different cultures and people. The main influences of music have been from Cuba, and other island communities located nearby. The Cubans brought conga and rumba, bachata, and merengue were brought by the Dominican people, and vallenato and cumbia were brought by Columbians. There is, however, all types of music (from many influences) that can be seen and heard throughout the city.

Miami is thought of as a party city. It is a place where the rich and famous (and the rest of us) go to "let it all out". As such there is a strong connection to the city with endless party and musical popular culture. Many songs, music videos, and music festivals mention or take place in the city. The city is home to many recording artists - and the studios that house them.

Los Angeles is regarded - around the world - as a center for the recorded and performance music industry. It is home to many recording labels and music landmarks - such as A&M Records, Warner Brothers, Rhino Records, and Capitol Records.  Many famous recording artists and entertainers reside in the city which allows them easy access to a variety of music and entertainment work. Houston Texas Music

Add Comment

Houston, Texas is home to at least one REALLY famous musician - Beyoncé Knowles. In fact her and three other members of the original Destiny's Child group can all claim this big Texas city as their own. Who would have thought the singer was any relation to this over the top Texas town? Beyoncé has a large fan base and has touched many parts of the music industry. She is, much like Texas, is bigger than average - at least when it comes to fame. There are certainly many bands and famous residents to claim Houston for themselves - but Beyoncé is arguably the largest.

What are your thoughts about Houston Music? What are your favorite bands and radio stations? Where are the best clubs to hear Beyoncé and other great artists? How do you feel about the music scene in Texas, the performance venues, and all things music in this rapidly expanding Texas city?

Tame Impala: Innerspeaker

Add Comment

My opinions about music are usually pretty cut and dry. I either like the sound or I don't. I either want to keep listening or never hear it again. So, when an album like Australian psychedelic rock outfit Tame Impala's Innerspeaker comes across my desk I find it more than a bit confounding. It's not a bad album by any stretch. I even struggle to point out a single bad song on the entire disc. The problem is that absolutely none of it sounds particularly fresh but none of it really feels like a well-read throwback, either.

Is Elvis Presley Still Alive?

Add Comment

The King of Rock and Roll would be 75 years old if he were still alive today.  That's what fascinates me about the "Elvis faked his own death" legend: what happened afterward?

I can believe that Elvis Presley faked his own death.  Although I think the possibility is unlikely.  Let's be honest, surely anyone who wanted to fake their own death would leave a better fake death behind than "died while pooping."

Something like, "died while rescuing a kitten from a tree" or even "died quietly in his sleep."  Something with a little dignity, you know?  Something better than the existing story, which is that he was found approximately 10 hours after his likely death, face down in a puddle of vomit on his bathroom floor, with his pants around his ankles.  That's just sad.

Boston Massachusetts Music

Add Comment

Boston Massachusetts is probably better known for the thick accent that accompany the conversations in this this town than it is for music - but this port city is rich in music that goes back to colonial days. I am pretty sure some of our founding fathers actually formed their own garage band back in the day which caused some of the citizens to band together to form the original Tea Party! I could be wrong about that though.

Baltimore Maryland Music

Add Comment

When many people think of Baltimore music they think of the musical "Hairspray". I know because I am one of them. The sounds of Corny Collins and the rest of the cast can go on forever. Hairspray is about social change through the power of song and dance and the message and tone can be quite powerful. All of the best scenes - whether they are from the original film, the Broadway Musical, or the remake - take place in the great city of Baltimore. How many other cities in America can (at least fictitiously) claim such positive social change through the power of song and dance?
